Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be Caesar, Attila, or Darius the Great? If yes, Rise of Kingdoms is exactly the game you need. Download Rise of Kingdoms: Lost Crusade and lead your civilization to the peak of glory!

Your Kingdom Come

Your beginnings are humble. You start as the Magister of a settlement that looks like a very big village or a pretty small town. Your goal is to propel this habitation to the acme of war glory and financial success. And this task is no joke.

Hordes of barbarians and other players’ armies will continually storm your hamlet. There will be sieges to withstand and battles to win. Additionally, you can befriend some players and forge a diplomatic alliance.

At your disposal there will be a lieutenant with a historical name like Sun Tzu. He will provide instructions on how to prepare your town for war, where to get resources from, which types of troops there are, etc.

The Core of The War

Quintessentially, there are four steps that lead to success in RoK:

  • Enhance your village, upgrade fortresses.
  • Collect resources, including gems.
  • Improve the troops.
  • Join an alliance.

Your army includes 4 subdivisions: cavalry, melee, ranged-attack, and siege troops. Battles happen in real time. And with every victory, even if it’s a small triumph over some local hobo nomads, your lieutenant gets experience points.

But apart from shedding virtual blood, you also need to keep your town going. It requires different resources: gold, stone, crops, wood, and gems.

For instance, you can’t recruit infantry if you have no food to offer. Stone is essential for upgrading the fortresses and City Hall – it allows unlocking new troops. Wood is vital if you want to have archers in your army. And gems let you buy stuff from the Merchant.

Diplomacy plays a major role in RoK. As a wise governor, you need to find potential friends and sign treaties of mutual help with them. Otherwise, your civilization risks getting wiped out from the face of the Earth in the first hours.

Really Hard RoK

Rise of Kingdoms has a certain free-to-play component. But if you choose to grind for resources, generals, and items without paying a dime, it will be a long, painstaking process. Basically, you’ll get the second job.

Things go much faster and easier once you decide to disembowel your wallet. This will let you get the top-tier troops, which is important for survival. And PvP battles won’t feel like an unfair disaster after you pay $50-100 or so.

As for the rest, it’s quite an entertaining game. Beautifully drawn and animated, it allows you to feel like an ancient prince, chieftain, or king.

There are 11 civilizations to choose from. And they are based on real-life prototypes: Britain, Germany, Rome, Ottoman, Japan, etc. So, if you have a thirst for leading your legions to triumph, Rise of Kingdoms might be your call

  • Real-time battles
  • Authentic civilizations
  • Real historic figures as your advisers

  • A lot of grinding
  • RoK requires investing real money
